Our Company is currently looking for an Industrial Maintenance Lead to support our delicious brands located in Lawrence, KS


Job Description

The Industrial Maintenance Lead is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of Hilary’s production goals and objectives.

 

Essential Functions

  • The Industrial Maintenance Lead is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing all operational and maintenance activities including corrective maintenance (CM), preventative maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (Pd.M.) for various production equipment including but not limited to scales, mixers, cookers, chillers,  formers, conveyors, palletizers, and ancillary compressed air, water, steam, gas, electrical, pumping and control systems.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Executes an effective preventive maintenance program and maintenance of equipment and facilities that minimizes unscheduled down time and has minimum interference.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Complete and maintain safety, quality, and SQF documentation and records.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, including programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gauges and test equipment.
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
  • Performing electrical trouble shooting up to 480 volts.
  • Inspects, maintains and repairs wiring, motors, switchboards, switches, blown fuses, various lighting fixtures and electrical mechanisms at industrial level
  • Troubleshoots industrial control systems, e.g., hydraulics, temperature control systems with steam or electrical heat source
  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown in line with OSHA requirements.
  • Advises operators of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  • Informs appropriate management of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
  • Supervises and participates in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repair of electrical appliances, systems, facilities, and related electronic controls and devices by interpreting blueprints, manufacturers’ specifications, and written and verbal instructions.
  • Coordinate production and maintenance schedules with Plant Management.
  • Plays role in Food Safety Team to maintain equipment, facilities, and keep employees and product safe during production

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, generally 40-50 hours per week, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. Weekend and off hours availability  needed in case of emergencies. Must be able to work overtime as needed.

 

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

 

Education and Previous Work Experience

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

  • At least five years or equivalent experience in a fast pace food or manufacturing plant.
  • Two years or more Technical School education .
  • Knowledge of installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of three-phase electrical systems.
  • Ability to analyze electro-mechanical devices, trouble shoot problems and implement repairs
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Solid math and comprehension skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Comfort performing a wide variety of repairs and interventions
  • Experience operating a forklift, front-end loader, and/or other heavy equipment

Forklift and Electric Pallet Jack Operation

Able to drive small truck

Maintain equipment and facilities in good working condition to protect both Food safety and people safety.
